*** Pineville Democrat, 13 November 1914 ... Once more has death invaded our midst and taken away one of our most respected citizens. Isaiah Browning was born June 7, 1842. He Fought valiantly for four years for the Confederate Cause, one which he believed to be right, when peace was declared he laid down his arms and accepted the Stars and Stripes as his flag and has since been one of its staunchest supporters. At the close of the war he settled in McDonald County. Several years ago he purchased the Frank Heath Farm on Butler Creek two miles south of Noel and live there until his death November 9, 1914. He was married in 1875 to Mrs. Caroline Prater, a widow with two children. Three children, all of whom are now living, were born to them. Their oldest, Ben, lives at Cleoria, Oklahoma; their second, Arthur, makes his home on the farm; and their youngest, Mrs. Mack McQuitty, resides in Noel. During the late years of his life he made peace with his Saviour. Funeral Services were conducted by Rev. J. M. King. Interment was made Wednesday in the Shelt Noel Cemetery west of Pineville. His death was due to a complication of diseases incident to old age.
