Edmonds Cemetery

McDonald County, Missouri

My Great Grandfather's name was Wyatt Edmonds, he was born Oc. t29, 1823. He married Mariah Williams in 1846. I have the copies of the original land paperwork as well as his last will. Thomas Marion was our Grandfather. So he gave the plot of land for the cemetery. My Great Grandfather homesteaded a portion of that valley. Their were 5 sons that had future homes in that valley. The original log cabin was located behind where my Grandparents home was located. There is a storage barn with lots of farm equipment and is stored at the site of their home. I believe it is owned by the people across the Elkhorn Creek, large new home. I am 81 years old and as far back as I remember it has always been Edmonds Cemetery, I remember it well, especially the cedar tree that grew up from the Carter grave site. My mother, Gladys Edmonds Hinton, told me that her Grandfather gave that portion of land to be a cemetery. That Cedar Tree looks the same now as it did when I was a child, so difficult to tell the age. Mom told me she used to have to go get the cows in the afternoon, and they were in the field across from the cemetery, and that Cedar Tree was there then. So glad to see the pictures, I loved spending time with my Grandmother, many fond memories. My Grandparents names were Thomas Marion and Nancy Barringer Edmonds.
