Obituaries George C. Laughlin b. 23 Aug 1838 d. 8 May 1915 George c. Laughlin, a prominent farmer of Mountain Township, McDonald County, Missouri, was born in Morgan County, Indiana on August 23, 1838 and passed away on May 8, 1915. In the passing away of Uncle George, as he was best known, the home and county have lost one of its truest and best friends. He was converted early in life and united with the M.E. Church, South, of which he has always lived a devoted life. He came to this county with his parents, Melvin and Lucretia Laughlin, when quite young and has resided here ever since. He was a man of strong faith and broad sympathies and his kindly spirit made everyone his friend. Though gone from our midst a little while, his influence remains and abides with us still. He was a sufferer for many months and was bedfast six weeks. He bore his affliction with the greatest of patience and never murmured. Everything was done that loving hands could do but the Heavenly Master saw fit in His wisdom to call him up higher. He leaves a wife and four children, three sons and one daughter. They are John S., Sidney, G.O. and Mrs. D.L. Patterson of Joplin. These with his many relatives and friends, he leaves sweet memories of his life. He was 77 years old. Funeral Services were conducted at the M.E. Church, after which the body was laid to rest in the Roller Cemetery. submitted by Lois Plett |
