Dora Ellen MAHURIN Stephens
b. 9 Dec 1901  d. 18 Jun 1966


  Dora Ellen Mahurin Stephens, daughter of the late Silas and Mary Mahurin, and wife of Homer Stephens, was born December 9, 1901 near Washburn, Missouri, and departed this life June 18, 1966 at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 9 days. she was a resident of Newton County and attended the Full Gospel Church.

  She was united in marriage to Willie Home Stephens, March 17, 1917 at Cassville, Missouri. To this union were born eight daughters and two sons. Those who survive her are seven daughters, Zola Griffith, Jane, Missouri, Oleta Cargile, Anderson, Missouri. Myrl Stout, Anderson, Missouri, Dean Rodney, Seneca, Missouri, Vivian Blevins, Stella, Missouri, Neomi Haviland, Rocky Comfort, Missouri, and Bonnie Newberry, Osage, Arkansas; one son, Carnie Stephens, Neosho, Missouri. Her husband, Homer, one daughter, Pearl and one son, Kenneth Wayne preceded her in death. Other survivors are two sisters, Sallie Mitchell, Fairview, Missouri and Belle Letts, Carthage, Missouri and one brother Charlie Mahurin, Winfield, Kansas; 34 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Full Gospel Tabernacle at Granby. The Rev. Robert Cooper and Rev. Onel Nunn officiated. Rev. and Mrs. Robert Cooper and Mrs. Geneva Cook and Sherry Cook sang, "I Cannot Find The Way Alone," "Sometimes It's Hard to Understand" and "Going Down The Valley."

Burial was made in the Macedonia Cemetery, north of Stella, Missouri, under the direction of the Shewmake Funeral Home of Grandby, Missouri.
