THOMPSON

Seeking information on James Thompson and Rebecca A., who were on the 1850 census in McDonald Co., Mo. James and Rebecca were probably married in McDonald Co. in the 1840's. I am wondering if Rebecca's maiden name could be Swor and they lived next to David and Mary Swor on this same 1850 census (David and Mary are on the bottom of the previous page, but the children are listed just above James and Rebecca and their family.) If any one has information on this family I would love to exchange information. Thanks.

MARSHALL

I'm searching for one of my ancestors graves in McDonald County. Also seeking any other information that might be available on the family. Saml. D. Marshall appears to have died there or perhaps divorced, between 1880-1891. He was married to Ann E. with children Sarah H. and Effie J. in the White Rock Township, McDonald County, MO 1880 Census. Later Ann E. is recognized in census records as Eliza. A. and remained connected to Sarah H. Marshall Fields and Effie J. Marshall Nix. Eliza remarried JF Armstrong and was with him in the 1900 White Rock Township, McDonald County, MO 1880 census, having been married to him for 9 years. Eliza and JF are buried next to one another in Ghormley Cemetery, Mayes County, OK. Anyone have any idea what might have happened and if he died, where he is buried. I'l sure love to learn more and perhaps get a photo of his grave marker. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

SIMONS Family

Peter and Nancy A. Simons and children: Peter L. (14), Philip A. (12), George E. (8), William Grant (5) are last known to be on the 1870 Census in Franklin Twp, Newton Co., MO. At least one additional child, James E. was born in 1873. Peter's daughter from  a first marriage, Elizabeth, and son-in-law Jacob E. Moore and three children are on the 1870 census (her brother Christian is with them) in Richwood Twp and on the 1880 Census in Rocky Comfort Twp, McDonald Co., MO. There is a marriage listing in Missouri Marriages 1766-1983, for a Mrs. Nancy A. Simon to Jesse Jones, 30 Apr 18876, in McDonald County, MO. In 1880, I cannot locate Jesse, Nancy, nor any of the children, which would seem to corroborate family lore that the younger children were orphaned. I would like to know when Peter & Nancy died, where they are buried, and what happened to all the children. I know in 1910 William Grant is in clay Co., TX and James E. is in Stephens Co., OK. Thank you.

MITCHELL Family in McDonald Co., MO

I am looking for information on the Thomas Jefferson and Matilda Harrill Mitchell Family. Thomas Jefferson was b. bet. 1800 – 1810 and mar. Matilda Harrill b. bet. 1800 – 1815 TN. Matilda was the daughter of Hazel and Catherine Shanks Harrill. They were in Monroe Co., TN in the late 1820’s; sale of her share of her father’s land in 1831. They are living in Monroe Co., TN in 1840. Jefferson Mitchell is mentioned in Monroe Co., TN Deeds in 1834 and 1836. I believe that Jefferson is son of John Harrill, who is in Monroe Co. at the same time and sells land in 1834 and 1835. Evidently they moved to Polk Co., TN by 1850 Census. However, he is listed as Thos. K. Mitchell (initial is difficult to read in the handwritten census). He and wife, Matilda 25 have the following children: Catherine 18; Minney 16; John 13; Mary 11; Sarah 9; Jesse 7; Martha 5; and Lurania 1. Matilda is sister to Absolom Harrill, Samuel H. Harrill, Mary Harrill mar. Humble; Martha (can not find after 1840); and Daniel B. Harrill. I recently found out that the Mitchells may have moved to MO along with Thomas Jefferson’s siblings. Some of Samuel H. Harrill’s family moved to Laclede Co., MO.
